Acne is an irritating and annoying skin condition that affects millions of people of every age, gender and race. It is noted that over ninety percent of people in any walks of life, particularly the adolescents are affected with acne. Most of them do not respond to some acne treatments, while the others do although the treatment may need to be continued for months and even years.

There is now a myriad of products in the market that are sold for acne treatments. A number of them are clinically proven effective, while many of them are without any scientifically proven impacts. Nevertheless, blends of various acne treatments are discovered that can usually prevent the onset of acne in all but the most serious cases. To mention, there are generally three forms of acne treatments that have been tested and proven potent for fighting acne.

One of the effective acne treatments is the way of killing the bacteria that are caused by the blocked follicles. Many experts have noted that this is done either by the intake of antibiotics such as tetracyclines or by treating the affected areas of your skin with the use of bactericidal substances like the benzoyl peroxide. However, it is somehow worth noting that lessening the acnes bacteria by such acne treatments will not do anything to lessen the oil secretion that is the most potent cause of the blocked follicles. As such, acne will generally reoccur quite soon after the end of such acne treatments.

The second type of acne treatments is done by a great daily intake of Vitamin A derivatives like the isotretinoin over a period of few months. This acne treatment is intended for reducing the secretion of oils from the glands. It is highly mentioned in some acne treatments reviews that isotretinoin is very effective in treating acute acne and it is effective in up to 80 percent of the patients. In addition, this drug has a much longer effect than the anti-bacterial acne treatments plus it is found out that it will often cure acne for good. Nevertheless, this type of acne treatments needs a close medicinal check up by a dermatologist for the reason that this drug has many known side effects, such as nosebleed and dry skin.

Finally, exfoliating the skin may also help to battle the onset or the further effects of acne. One of the topical acne treatments for this purpose is the salicylic acid. It is found out that salicylic acid encourages the peeling of the layer of the skin that will help to prevent a build up the of dead skin cells which basically blend with skin oil to block pores. As one of the most well-known and commonly suggested acne treatments, it can also aid to unblock the clogged pores.
